Bob Meistrell's Birthday Dive

Went out on the Body Glove boat today for Bob Meistrell's (Co-Founder of Body Glove) birthday dive.  Bob did a dive down to 162 feet for twice his age.  I didn't do that dive because if you remember last year I posted Bob's birthday dive that he did at 100 feet and my air tank came loose down there.  So I stayed up above and got land shots.  Bob did great and actually went down to 172 feet before coming back up.  I talked to my buddy Scott Smith who is a experienced dive instructor and dives all the time.  He said that was the first time he went down that deep and it was really crazy.  You really notice a difference between 130 and 160 feet. Things just start getting weird and you really have to concentrate to keep it together.

The computer from one of the divers.  It shows 162 feet for 26 min at a temp of 56F.  Crazy stuff.

Saturday Santa Fe Deli Gathering

Sean and I rode to Jason's house (By Hand and By Brain) to meet up with Pat and we all rode down to Santa Fe Deli for Church Of Choppers Nelson and Chopper Dave's lunch gathering.

A good little crowd was there to hang out and eat some lunch.

Pat and Chopper Dave.

Thanks Nelson. It was good to get out for awhile, but if I get that Swine Flu I know who to hunt down!!!!  Check out more photos over at Blue Collar Moto too.

Working On A New Blog Story

Still working on the Scott Di Lalla story.  Hope to get it done sometime this summer!

Top Shelf Sporty

Barry Lacour of Top Shelf Custom built himself a pretty cool Sportster recently.  As Barry tells it, "Here are some shots of my rubber mount Sportster project. It started out as a basket case that I got from Westminster Harley Davidson last year. I planned on doing a vintage styled street tracker but, I thought that ship had already sailed. So, I decided on more of a traditional mid sixties look."  I plan to shoot some shots of it real soon.  Top Shelf Customs also has a pretty cool Rigid that they just finished building.

A Moment of Silence

Yesterday I lost my dad.  I was able to say goodbye and he was able to see me and my daughter for the last time.  I am happy for him for there is no more pain and suffering and now he is on his way to a better place.  Cherish your loved ones while you can.

Love you dad.
I will always remember your smile and laughter.

North Shore-Oahu 5

My daughter and I drove up the hill behind Foodland to PU'U Mahuka Heiau to check it out.  Never been up there so I decided to finally go.
Pretty cool once you get up there.
You hike around trails and you can see views like this of the North Shore. This is looking down at Waimea Bay.
Ancient Rock formations.

The drive in to the North Shore.  Waimea Bay.  When a swell hits this place comes alive.  They have the big wave contest "The Eddie" here.  They only run it when it hits 20' or more. The last time they ran it was 2004 and Bruce Irons won the event.

North Shore-Oahu 4

Foodland!  The hub of the North Shore.
Ted's Bakery. My favorite place to go for breakfast.  They got great pies too!  If your on the North Shore you need to stop by.
My buddy Steve Machin's house down the street from V-Land.  Steve worked as a Hawaiian Lifeguard and was part of the Hawaiian Water Patrol.  I would stay here when I came down to the North Shore for work.  But it looks like he's selling his house so I guess I won't be staying here anymore.

My families favorite place on the North Shore.  Turtle Bay. Great resort and super nice to stay at.  This is the place where they filmed "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."

North Shore-Oahu 3

Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach.  You gotta be careful of the rip tide here.  A cop from LA died a few years back here.  He got sucked out and couldn't get back in and drowned.
Empty lot where Sunset Pizza used to be.  Great place to get a burger or pizza.  There was also a laundrymat, surf shop and liquor store there.  But Quiksilver had the great idea of building a Boardriders Club store there and tore it down.  Now that seems to have fallen through so there is nothing there but this piece of machinery for rent and a fence. Good going Quik.
So you know where your at.

North Shore-Oahu 2

The beach park where the famous Pipeline wave is at.
Looking out to Pipeline. It's flat today so nobody was out surfing.
Pathway between both Volcom Houses out to Pipeline.
Side entry into the original Volcom house.

Haleiwa Drive

Took a drive down to the North Shore yesterday and on the way back to Waikiki drove through Old Town Haleiwa for lunch.
The famous bridge in Old Town Haleiwa that has been in several movies.
Haleiwa Joes is a great place to eat dinner.  Great Steak and Lobster dish.  Usually super packed at night.

Then down the street our favorite place to go for lunch or dinner.  Pizza Bob's!  Great food, but always super cold inside.  So if you go even though it may be hot outside you may want to wear a light jacket to keep from freezing over.

Hawaii

View from my room at the Outrigger Hotel in Waikiki yesterday.
